Dubai – The Old, The New, and The Trip – in Photos

I hope you’ve read “Dubai – The Old, The New, and The Trip in Rants“. It’s meant to accompany these photos. If you haven’t, do so NOW. If you have, you have some choices. You can view simple slideshows on flickr, watch the Animoto video, or do both. Of course, I encourage doing both.

Dubai – The Old, The New, and The Trip – In Rants

Dubai – The Old, The New, and The Trip – In Rants

Let’s just start off by saying that OLD in Dubai means 1980’s! Truthfully though Wikipedia states that written accounts document existence of the city for at least 150 years prior to when the U.A.E. was formed. So, yes, there are some old things there but I’m sure a lot of what I captured isn’t the oldest.

Our Trip to Karachi, Pakistan

Our Trip to Karachi, Pakistan

Karachi and its people proved to be wonderful subjects for my very amateur photography skills. These photos were taken with my new Fuji F-70 EXR, my third camera within the span of a year. Let’s hope that this one doesn’t get lost or stolen as the last 2 did. Between Karachi and Dubai I took over 1,000 photos but I managed to delete more than half of those. The Karachi portion came to a total of 329, which is still a lot to go through, so I split it up into a number of albums, including a Best of Karachi.

An Evening With Mom

Mom and I enjoyed one of our favorite places – the outside cafe at Bon Appetit restaurant in Dunedin, FL. It was quite breezy outside but not so much so that we weren’t able to enjoy outside at the end of a very warm day in Florida. The rest of the trip brought “cold” weather. All unnessesary quotes aside, it did in fact feel chilly after the rainstorm we had Sunday morning. And then we had sunny, breezy 50’s and 60’s for the remainder of the visit. I suppose I will be pining for this once I’m back in the reality of a New York March.
