The beginning of her story has been experienced countless times before. Kid with an average voice wants to make a record. Kid’s mom pays company to write and produce song for kid. Kid releases song. Friends and family get excited. Song goes nowhere. Kid finishes high school, then college, and then moves on with her normal life.

My First Die Walküre was an Evening to Remember

If someone had told me ten years ago that I would have so looked forward to and enjoyed an evening at the opera, I would have laughed at them. But thanks to my life partner, Adi, I’ve made significant progress in expanding my cultural influences. Wagner’s Die Walküre is probably the 12th opera I’ve seen in my life and it’s definitely my favorite, as is the case for many.

Poly Styrene of Legendary 70′s Punk Band X-Ray Spex Dies

Thanks to Jason Bentley and KCRW‘s Morning Becomes Eclectic, I heard the song “Oh Bondage, Up Yours” for the first time, and loved it. Sadly, it also brought the news that its singer, Poly Styrene of the punk band X-Ray Spex passed away at 53 after a long battle with breast cancer.
