RuPaul’s Drag Race V – The Ru Roast and Midseason Thoughts

Recaps Galore.

I’ve enjoyed Rupaul’s Drag Race from its inception. It’s one of the few shows that’s kind of customized for a gay audience, although loved by straight people as well. Season V, however, has not engaged me like other seasons have. Don’t get me wrong. I still love watching every week but I haven’t really fallen in love with any of the queens like I did Sharon and Latrice in Season IV, Raja and Manilla in Season III and Raven and JuJu in Season II.

We Should be So Lucky—With MadPad.

Having a lot of fun with the MadPad app. Have you ever heard the Kylie Minogue song “I Should be so Lucky”? Not her best moment, in my opinion. But the comedy team French and Saunders did a great parody version of it several years ago where they play opera stars brought in to do a special song. You have no idea what it is until you get about a third of the way into the video. Then you realize, it’s Kylie! Stumbling Towards Meryl on Ice, Julian Assange, and Cat Cuisine

It seems like the very year I would have thought Saturday Night Live would have gone down hill, it seems to have renewed itself. In recent years, it’s only been 2, maybe 3 skits that really make me laugh on any given show. But this year, it’s closer to 4 or 5. The hosts have been funny, Anne Hathaway among the best, although the musical guests could be better. Paul McCartney was great this past weekend and it was fantastic to hear some Wings songs, but overall, I think they stay way to safe with their guests. Where’s Robyn? Where’s Janelle Monae? Gorillaz, anyone?
