Holy Ghost’s I Will Come Back vs. New Order’s Confusion (Video Comparison)

Holy Ghost!

I have to thank Logo’s New Now Next for turning me on to this great track by Brooklyn’s Holy Ghost! I didn’t realize until I read the detailed info section on the Youtube page where it’s posted that it’s paying homage to New Order and their 1983 single ‘Confusion’. But you don’t have to watch too much of ‘Confusion’ to see the comparison. I just love the fact that Holy Ghost! captured the vintage feel of the 80’s so well in ‘I will come back’. It’s only when you see the cabs and the new subways that you realize that it was shot in 2009.

The other thing that makes it so similar is that they got New Order producer Arthur Baker to play his part in the ‘I Will Come Back’ video. They just ran into him one night at a bar and he said he wanted to play himself. Originally, the part was to be played by James Murphy of LCD Sound System. Holy Ghost! are DJs Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel who both grew up in Manhattan‘s Upper West Side and met in the second grade. They are responsible for remixes of Moby, Phoenix, Cut Copy, and others. The last thing they released on their on is 2007’s Hold On.

Green Label Sound is an exclusive singles music label that gives away music for free to promote artists. You can download I Will Come Back here.

That’s classic, thanks for turning that one up, sounds like the 70s melting into the 80s recorded in the 90s and remixed for the noughties.
