Romeo at the dog run!

Here he is – our pride and joy – at his 3rd official weekend playdate at the dog run. We’re at the under 25-lb dog run at 72nd and Riverside. He’s getting more and more comfortable with each time he goes out as everyone said he would. Adi worried a little bit about if he was getting hurt when other dogs nipped at him but we assured him this is normal and that they’re just playing. Romeo got a few of his tackles and nips in as well. We met some friendly people. People are so much friendlier when they’ve got their dogs around.

If you like this, check out Romeo on the terrace!

john, do you take him on the subway to get to the dog park?? if so, i’m curious if it freaks him out a bit, the noise…i know if a truck drives by phoebe, the noise of it, she comes unspooled.

No, I don’t know if he’s ready for the subway yet although I’m tempted to try this Sunday when I go to the Meet-up (of other dachshunds) on Sunday in Soho.

For the 72nd street dog run, we took him on the bus in a bag. He seemed a bit frightened at times but was relatively calm overall.

Ah, yes. We suburbanites tend to forget about the buses! BTW, I joined the new haven meet up group for mini-dachshunds. Next meeting is, I think, next week. We probably won’t go to that one, but maybe once it gets a little warmer. They hold the gatherings in Hamden, which is probably about a 30 min car ride. Phoe won’t be fond of the ride but I think it’ll be fun.

So glad to hear you joined that. This coming Sunday will be the first one for the NY group and it’s a race of some sort:

Romeo seemed to do pretty well at the dog park so I hope he will like being around other doxies.

I wonder why they don’t like transportation and if it’s a dachshund thing.
